PRESS STATEMENT – 19 May 2013

‘ANWAR MUST BE TRIED FOR TREASON’

KOTA KINABALU, Sun: GABUNGAN PRIBUMI PRIHATIN SABAH (GPPS) urges the Attorney-General’s Chambers to open an investigation paper on Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his involvement in the Lahad Datu intrusion.
In view of the various evidences, facts and photographs that have surfaced on Anwar’s involvement in the intrusion, it is only appropriate that he is tried for treason.

Any other Malaysian culprits who were behind the intrusion must be brought to justice.
They must face the consequences regardless of how powerful or influential they are.

We also call upon the Sabah Government to immediately ban Anwar from entering the state pending a court outcome that exonerates his involvement.

Anwar must be tried for high treason and he must prove his innocence in the Malaysian court.
Lives of innocent Sabahans, policemen and soldiers were lost in this tragic incident.

Both the Federal and State Government, which is under a fresh mandate, must take immediate steps to ensure justice is served to the perpetrators of this crime.

Richard Osong
President of GPPS
